Biography of Senator Joe Miller
Senator Miller was elected in 2008 defeating an incumbent by 20 percent of the vote. Miller was 25 at the time of election, making him the youngest current sitting senator in the North Dakota Senate and one of the youngest in the nation.
Prior to running for office, Miller was active in the College Republicans, serving as state chairman during the 2004 presidential election. He has also worked as a deputy director for the NDGOP and is a former member of the NDGOP state committee.
Senator Joe Miller is seeking his second term of office. He is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Finance and Taxation committee and a member of the Agriculture committee. He has worked on Energy Development and Transmission, Human Services, Information Technology, and Taxation interim committees.
In recognition of his commitment to our most basic human right, Senator Miller was awarded the North Dakota Right-to-Life Legislator of the Year Award.
Joe Miller is a graduate of Valley City State University. He and his family farm near Fordville. Joe is a singer, a musician, a family man and an adoring uncle to his nieces and nephews. He is a resident of Park River and he is active in community events and organizations throughout the Northern Red River Valley.
